Sight Words Memory Game

Pick a grade-level word list and match identical sight words. Players read each word aloud as they flip it.

Sight word practice that doesn't feel like a flashcard drill

Sight words are the high-frequency words that don't reliably follow phonics rules — said, was, come, they. They have to be recognised instantly, and instant recognition only comes from lots of repetitions.

A memory deck delivers those repetitions without the flashcard grind. Ask players to read each word out loud when they turn it over; a wrong match is still a successful reading rep.

Word lists here cover Pre-K through second grade. Choose the list just below your reader's current level so the game feels winnable, then move up.
